The Importance of Feature Engineering in Deep Learning
Feature engineering is something that's absolutely necessary for tabular data. There isn't a lot of it available in open source or in the open domain for deep learning models to learn from and chew on. And so, at least for now and for the foreseeable future, you need feature engineering to be able to sort of take raw data and create a representation of the real world.
