I Think We're Going to See a Heterogeneous CPU in Six Years or So
In six years i think that general purpose like most general purpose CPUs are going to be heterogeneous in terms of performance and power characteristics. So you start to schedule workloads based on how much power you want to devote to it rather than having them compiled specifically to run on a one core on another. Apple is already doing this with some of their m series chips where they have efficiency cause and performance cause on the same die but if the performance cause couldn't burst to a higher clock rate whereas the efficiency cause was more constrained. I don't necessarily think that they're going to share and accelerate compute systems so I see what we're gonna see is more accelerated compute being brought on die but
