The Role of Religious Identity in Asian American Conservatism
Asian Americans who have a religious identity seem to play an outsized role in some of the kind of conservative and even proto fascist trends that we're talking about. So, Jane I'm wondering why do religious identities correlate to anything from Asian American conservatism to unfortunately something like fascism? And so here I'll lean on the work of political scientist Janelle Wong who's done extensive research, particularly in the 2016 presidential election. She did this for Asian Americans Latinx voters white and black voters as well so basically across the board. Of all Asian American religious groups, Asian American evangelicals were the most likely to vote for Republican candidates.
