The Right to Birthright Citizenship
The 14th Amendment ratified in 1868 after the Civil War states, all persons born or naturalized in the U.S. and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States. Governor Ron DeSantis has argued that dangling the prize of citizenship to the future offspring of illegal immigrants is a major driver of illegal migration. Former President Trump considered while he was in the White House, never actually moved it forward or tried to end birthright citizenship.
