Lamia was the beautiful queen of libya. She fell in love with zeus and started a romance, but this did not make his wife happy at all. Hera decided to take her anger out on him by making lamia miserable so that every child she had would die. Lamia became a horrible beast, half woman, half snake,. With eyes that she could pluck out of their sockets and hold in her hands. And worst of all, she was known mostly for roaming the countryside and stealing young children from their mothers.
