Trying to Change People's Minds
Make sure you and the other person are coming to the discussion with similar under assumptions. If there's huge differences of opinion about that, it may just not be a very fruitful conversation in the first place. Another thing that i think its pretty important is to make sure you're trying to change people's minds rather than debating facts. Two people can have access to the same facts but their values are so different they come away with completely different ideas about what to do.
