I understand why proponents of assisted dying legislation don't want to use the word suicide. But on the other hand, I find alternative vocabulary like medical aid and dying a little clunky. This is one of the objections to physician assisted death is basically just a rejection of suicide as such or it flows from a view that the choice to take your life is always and everywhere wrong. That has been a very deliberate decision to disentangle suicide and all the baggage that that word contains from this idea of physician assisted death.
