The Promise of Artificial Intelligence

Brian Cantwell Smith has written a new book about artificial intelligence. He recalls meeting with John Hoaglin at Stanford three days before his birthday in 1980. The two men became close friends and taught each other AI for many years. They both lost their lives to Alzheimer's disease, cancer and heart attacks respectively.
