Purgatory, the Image of the Lake Is Purgatory
Purgatory is a primordial element n the griv wor bout r you know, they're translating there. There are other images for purgatoryan this one is more recent. In newman's extraordinarily beautiful poem, the dream of gerantius, he tells the story of a soul passing from death to its final destination. And in that work, newman envisages purgatory as a lake. He has these beautiful lines at the end of the poem where the angel takes the soul the edge of the lake and sings to the soul: "In my most loving arms, i now unfold thee"
