The politics of it is so at this point so overly dominated by the gun fetish far extreme that they've shaped the terms such that, you know, in the binary of between guns or not guns. It means adopting a whole hog, the full extreme of that version of that viewpoint. So I think be careful with issue polling on around guns because what's interesting is the actual real world voting results often do not mirror issue polling at all. The people who emphasize it that decide almost any issue in American life.
This week, Curtis kicks off a two parter on the tough subject of guns in America. Part 1 is a Good Faith Classic where Curtis and David explored the tensions between gun culture and gun control in our hyper-polarized environment. They help us take a step back to think through the “how” of approaching such a complex issue versus just the “what” of our preferred policy outcome. Stay tuned for next week’s Part 2 episode where Good Faith explores what a Christian response to gun violence could look like.
