How Do You Determine Causality When There Are So Many Algorithms?
i agree with you on the des ability of transparency, not just in this domain, but so many others. But what i am a little sceptical about is the efficacy of it. If one finds later on down the line that greater transparency doesn't actually solve the problem, then the state can use it as a pretext to actually overreach. So there were at least two things you were alluding to er in your question. One as the difficulty of doing the science itself, and the fact that you may not find anything significant once you do the science. There may be considerable uncertainty associated with the conclusions you're drawing. Even if you find some effect, this is still what i call variance
