I grew up in Boston and your family was a blue collar family. I mean, every man in my life growing up as a boy was either a World War II vet or a Korean war vet. That's all they talked about. And so when I passed my draft physical, which would have brought me into the Army, like most of the guys in my neighborhood went in the Marine Corps. Ultimately, I made sergeant as an infantryman, made sergeant. My mother was diagnosed with cancer, so I got out of the Marine Corps, but stayed in a program that continued my training while going to college.
