The Present in Drag: A Critical Response to B&LA
B&LA was a watershed moment to see the things we'd been thinking about reflected in this public space. But it hit a total wall of resistance among the like, art establishment. To acknowledge the performativity of everything, including the political in the social media era. And you got very performative criticism in response. It really saw the beginning of what was the Donald Trump era fantasy of like ubiquitous moral enforcing sadism and an authoritarian view of humans homogenized into distinct categories and rules of empathy.
