The Meaning of May Day

It's always the first Monday of May. A bank holiday Monday, we call them. And everyone loves a bank holiday Monday. Basically because it means no work. I also found out that it started from socialist parties that said, like, we work a lot, so we need a day off,. But in Germany, apparently the first of May was a gift from Hitler to the people.
