The Jazz Score to Whiplash by Justin Fletcher
The score to Whiplash is much more ambient leanings, or thrillers. The approach was still similar in the sense that it all began with trying to find a melody which would drive through the whole movie. I'm not a pianist myself, but there I just kind of transferred that same sort of love to jazz piano greats. It's quite all biographical in terms of your experiences in a band.
