The Importance of Growing Up Fast
William's father was captured twice during the Revolutionary War. William and his mother spent a tough winter in Canada nursing his father back to health. He traveled into captivity after he recovered from his wounds, traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. And again, he grew up fast. During this period of time, smallpox was a pandemic,. I guess, throughout the colonies. So he ended up being a smallpox carrier.
