Living in Carphee

The mountainside was blasted and baked by the sun in the summer with temperatures rising over a hundred degrees. Any farming would have involved people going up and down the mountain to tend to flocks and crops. It's a three-hour hike to the top of Carphee, so it's an all-day affair to tend fields or any livestock that couldn't live at the higher altitudes. A fire during the dry, cretin summer could mean losing an entire house or more in the village.
