The Making of the Modern Identity

Every culture has to give its members a way of forming an identity. In the Western world we move from what we can call, for lack of a better term, a traditional identity to today's modern identity. But in most of the rest of the world, in the non-Western part of the world,. traditional identity is still the way those cultures give people a sense of self and worth. So if you or your family is from Africa or Asia or Latin America, you come from cultures where even today you have traditional identity - not modern identity.
