The Importance of Spirituality in the Left
The left needs to be able to engage with people without dismissing the notion of religion. I'm still arguing with them even if you don't even have your own spiritual practice. Try to find existing religious people on the left and there are plenty of them trying to create movements that integrate religious people into them. If we just cut out everything that we might think of as spiritual focus purely on what the left considers materialism then we end up ceding a huge ground, a huge sort of like ethical spiritual ground to conservatives who are often more happy to talk about philosophy and art.
