Jephthah's Vow

Jephthah made a vow to the Lord and said, if you will give the Ammonites into my hand then whoever comes forth from the doors of my house to meet me when I return victorious shall be the Lord's. But the king of the Ammonite did not heed the message of Jephthah which he said to him. Israel dwelt in Heshban and its villages and in Arowar and its villages for three hundred years. Why did you not recover them within that time? The Lord, the judge, decide this day between the sons of Israel and the people of Ammon.
