Data is critical to ensure that the startup is iterating in the right direction. The newly minted data person who enters this environment has their own host of fallacies and that they get married to. There's a certain, I think, obedience towards a God that doesn't really exist. And then on the side of one other fallacy that they can fall prey to is perhaps what's like crudely called dashboard porn.

Building a data team is hard in any circumstance, but at a startup it can be even more challenging. The requirements are fluid, you probably don't have a lot of existing data talent to manage the hiring and onboarding, and there is a need to move fast.
