Indonesia's Democracy Is a Stumbling Block
The PKS is arguably Indonesia's most democratic party in terms of its internal structures. But few if any of them have much in the way of internal democratic structures for cultivating their own leadership like you mentioned ironically the most hard line Islamic party. So it's a weakness for Indonesia's institutionalization of democracy, which is something that matters. It's always vulnerable to reversals and setbacks.
