How a Sub Contractor's Low Prices Could Save You Millions?

Labor in china isn't as cheap as used to be, so more labour intensive parts of the shoemaking process are out sauced. The metal grommets, the metal little os that you put your laces through, for instance, are usually purchased from sub contractors in countries where labor is even cheaper than china's. Is there a reason for a company to actually look really deeply into how a sub contractor runs their business when it could save the millions if they simply look the other way? Or frankly, at this level of manufacturing, this is where regulation tends to run out of steam.
