The First Line of Dialogue in a Book
I like thinking about it in terms of the ins of questions i want the reader to be asking themselves, even if they are not consciously articulating those questions. And so the first line of dialogue can work that way. But yet, if the question i'm asking is, ah, who is, who is talk? What's even going on? That is way too broad a question. I want that first line to ask me a a narrower question,. Ask the reader a narrower question, so that i can answer it specifically.
