What's the Difference Between Balance and Hearing?

In the inner ear, in addition to the auditory component, you have five end organs. These include three semicircular canals which sense when our head is rotating. There are also two ottoliths that sense how we move in relation to gravity. And all of these work together to give your brain information about how you're moving. What does our brain do with it? So this is sort of the critical thing. It's really early in vertebrate development. Oh, what? So balance came first and hearing came later? Yes.
