How to Scale a No-SQL Database
The reason that no-SQL database is historically have managed to skirt around the scalability problem is because by the very nature, they're not relational. And when I talk about scaling, I'm talking about moving that across multiple machines. The likes of a do Cassandra, Mongo are very good at effectively taking your database as a whole and putting it across multiple machines with redundancy and failure built into that thing. It's all trade offs.
