The Restrict Act Would Give the Commerce Secretary Sweeping Powers to Crack Down on Tech Transactions
A new bill designed to ban TikTok would give the government sweeping powers to crack down on tech. Congress is looking to ban the app, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. The allegation is that since TikTok is Chinese owned, it's obligated to share user data with the Chinese government.
