The Importance of Immediate Memory
Pepper Schwartz: Memory is a way in which my brain encodes and therefore turns on certain patterns of neurons that fire over and over again every time it happens. But there are certain ways in which I remember things that I don't actually have to actively pay attention to it in order for it to become encoded. This form of memory, this way our brain works is active before birth. And it's a form of memory that we actually have in process. It's at work even before we're born. We'll get to explicit memory in just a moment and why paying attention is important.
