Tong dynasty ta culture is most associated with the cha jing, or classic of tea by l a text which describes tea as something of a mania in chinese society. The aristocratic families of early japan were mad synophiles, adoring all things chinese. And their religious practice was closely tied to another continental import, buddhism, that was also very associated with china's tea culture.
