CHAPTER

Stroud, I'm a Stapper.

Stroud hated warden Morgan immediately upon arrival, calling him a cheap, grafting, psalm, singing hypocrite whom Stroud was planning to kill the first chance he got. He also hated John Purcell, the captain of the guards and wrote that he once, quote, saved the captain's life by not stabbing him with a 10 inch length of sharpened steel when Purcell threatened him with a blackjack. A portrait he painted of the Queen of Prussia ended up hanging in the public library at Sabitha, Kansas. However, Stroud's streak of good behavior ended in 1916 with a visit from his little brother, the Great Marcus.
