Diplomats - What Do You Do as a Diplomat?

Diplomats have a couple of different jobs they do, but in general, we promote the foreign policy. So i am a logistics management officer who really focuses on contracting and procurement. I used to work on columbia desk, for example,. And i would spend a lot of time working with the columbian embassy on trade issues - so you can also end up dealing with visas. That is all fascinating. Although i'm always going to be a diplomat, i apply for different opportunities every two to three years. Once i'm selected to do that, then i get to change my job too.
