Josh: The parables are often seen in more of a kind of through the lens of mysticism or just the idea of make it simple and make it modern we say oh well you know a man goes and finds the pearl and he sells all that he has to buy the field. Josh: I think it's best to see these in the context of Jewish apocalyptic eschatology so the hidden treasure and the pearl these are things of massive importance and value. What should we do when we see that wow like the day of the Lord's really coming a moral response is what should be evoked here, says Josh.
