With depression, what's happening again, the person is resorting to an escape strategy of passivity. I'm trying to shut down impassivity in order to not feel or notice that pain. Now it works really well in the immediate term. It is soothing to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head. But what happens in a long term when you do that kind of strategy is you add to your problem. So now you start feeling guilty for staying in bed or for not going out with your friends. You start getting lethargic causeo you're not active. And that just contributes to this pile of pain that you are then trying to continually escape from. That
