Orientalism: Sayid's Own Life Was Shaped by Colonialism
Sayid describes Napoleon Bonaparte's expedition to Egypt in the late 18th century. On his conquest, he took with him top geographers, linguists, and archaeologists who tried to map and categorize everything about Egyptian culture. Sayid talks about this in Orientalism. So yes, this shows incredible arrogance, extraordinary arrogance, which comes out of the power to conquer. This is the only way I can explain it.
