The troubled teen industry is a network of private for profit, therapeutic boarding schools and wilderness programs. The origin of this industry truly comes from a cult called synanon in the 70s that was obsessed with AA. There's no governmental oversight or regulation which enables people to use practices like attack therapy because there's no governing body preventing such measures from being taken.
