Minor keys in music are associated with negative emotions including fear. This appears to be a somewhat unsolved question, but there were a lot of hypotheses floating around. A study exposed people of different cultures to music from other cultures and they could pick out the intended emotional qualities of that music. And i think you could take studies like this as perhaps evidence that some, certainly not all, and maybe not even most, but some, of the emotional associations of musical sound are nerobiological in common to all peop.
