For many years I served as a pastor in Berkeley surrounded by the University of California Berkeley and that meant undergraduate graduate students. And it was just amazing how much they were speaking of the same thing. One woman who had been exceedingly high achieving in her academic life said, you know, they're really encouraging me to do a PhD. The whole institution exists to draw you into the vortex of this particular project. It probably is the right thing for you to do but it will also be potentially your undoing because it's going to both feed your greatest strengths and your greatest neuroses.
