You should expect some ultra runners to have some level of weight loss after they've done probably a 10 hour race. We know just anecdotally, even without doing studies that you can train yourself to handle a large volume of food. The gut is an adaptable organ. It's not like a crazy, dramatic change in the adaptations, but there are some modest changes that occur based on your habitual diet and what you're doing during training sessions.
