The Origins of Babylon

There's a whole backstory going on here, culturally, about the origins of the city Babylon and what Babylon claimed for itself. The huge structure that Babylon was known for was called Etemenonki, which in Sumerian means the tower of the foundation of heaven and earth. So if you read the account of the founding of the structure in Enuma Elish, it's really remarkable. Because literally the language of Genesis 11 just leaps out at you. And their name is going to be connected to their unified way of thinking and speaking. Or the top of which is in the heavens. Which is surely significant.
