China's Reliance on LNG Is a Major Driver of the Energy Transition

In Germany, Russian threats to block pipe-length gas imports have already caused an about turn on the phasing out of coal. Similar policy decisions in China to maintain coal-fired power production also have obvious energy security reasoning. The Asian giant is building more than half of the world's new capacity to help offset increasingly expensive energy imports.
