Asters and goldenrod look so stunningly beautiful, she asked her professor why. He rebuffed the question: that's not a scientific question like f you're interested in beauty, go study art. But there is actually a very fascinating scientific explanation as to why they grow next to each other. It has to do with the fact that when those two colors, gold and purple, grow next to one another, each become more visible because of the way inwhich, in color theory, they are like opposite.
