Ep. 162 – Practice in Daily Life: Right Action
Heart Wisdom with Jack Kornfield
The Precept of Not Killing
The precept of not killing is both not to kill and also to sense to connect with the life around with Gaia. It's like the astronauts looking way back from the moon and seeing this tiny little sphere the size of your thumbnail at arm's length that's blue. And out of this sense of connectedness comes naturally a compassion, a caring, an ecology. You don't want to hurt all the things that contribute to this planet. Not stealing is non-greed. Not coveted or grasping. Not take what isn't given to you. That's one of the beauties of virtue. It eliminates fear and paranoia and complexity.
