The Importance of Failure
In 1982, the writer Joyce Carolotes published a remarkable piece in Hudson Review called Notes on Failure. This piece has helped me accept the realities of failing. We may even be secretly in love with failure because so much of life that is exciting and unpredictable reveals itself to us in failure. Success can often banish those experiences that hold the free zone of life but there's a certainty to failure that success refuses to promise.
