Tiberius Followed Augustus Like a Rock Star
When his stepfather, the legendary augustus, died, tiberius ascended to the throne and became emperor. He seemed like a promising continuation of the asty his stepfather had established. One could be forgiven for thinking that tiberius didn't really want this job at all. But despite the senator's timid demeanor, he knew they weren't sheep. Given too much space, they'd find a way to undermine him in private. Tiberius would often describe this delicate balance as holding a wolf by both ears.
