How to Tell Stories in a Second Language
Italian speakers and most people from the southern Mediterranean area don't feel comfortable with silence not as much as Northern Europeans and Scandinavians. Spanish speakers especially in social situations they think silence is not comfortable and they feel the need to fill it with something. One of the things I think from my personal experience of telling stories in Italian or telling stories in English would be using like colloquial language which has more of an effect that maybe you don't know in the other language. Those kind of words really do add a lot to the story because something maybe which isn't so funny if said using some of this language makes it hilarious sometimes even just the word is hilarious.
