The Fordable Housing Crisis in London
Government funding from the central government has dropped 63 % over the last decade. That just leaves them with not enough money to do base line what they need to do, and definitely notenough money to be building more affordable homes. At the same time, these councils find themselves in possession of areas of land in central london that are now extremely high value. So throw in igh value land with a housing crisis and pressure to build affordable homes, and they have a high motive to turn to private developers who come in and say, hey, we'll happily give you a couple of hundred million quid or more for that bit of land you got there. It is how basically the system works right
