Taxes on Fuel and Energy Bills
It is deeply regressive, in terms of income and equality, to tax people on their fuel and energy bills. The government's had a windfall at least in the high double digit billions. As the price of deasl and petrol goes up, because 20 % of what we pay is v a t, the government gets more money. But the thrust of the assistants should be vir the tax system, not vi spending. Just raise the starting rate of income tax. Encourage people to get into work. We keep getting told that unemployments really low, but it isn't really low, if you understand the numbers - many millions of people have left the work force.
