Santos Gernard is the author of a new book about working in Silicon Valley. In it, he talks about how one engineer turned down several job offers because they were all lower than what he was worth. He says there are two reasons for this: A specific kind of person and culture that reinforces certain tendencies. It takes a certain kind of person to want to prioritize intelligence as opposed to bi-weekly paychecks.
