The Importance of Believing in Yourself
I think a lot of people really get attached to trying to change their body as that mechanism to be like, if I can just make my body look this way, then I can fit in. And it's hard to feel belonging when you're being told something that you cannot change about yourself is wrong. If you already have attachment trauma, like maybe you don't feel connected to your family at home, the kind of overemphasis on beauty and the body becomes an all-or-nothing thing for many women. As a queer person, unless I am very overtly in a predominantly queer space that it is probably safer for me to dilute part of myself with heteronormative lens.
