Is There a New Mutation Within Your Gene That Could Change Kidney Stone Development?

Shelley went to a specialist stone clinic where they realised that the kidney stones were made of calcium. Doctors thought she could have a rare condition called infantile hypercalcemia. Now she's taken part in research that's helped her better understand her condition. Nicole Ball, from University of East Stanglia has identified a new mutation which is a abnormality within their genes. She believes this means that their vitamin D cannot be regulated and it leads to an increase in vitamin D within the body. This results in a build-up of calcium in the blood ultimately in the kidneys which then leads to these kidney stone development.
